Knights Open Season with Four Champions at Pointer Open

STEVENS POINT, Wis. -- The No. 10-ranked Wartburg women's wrestling team opened its season Saturday at the Pointer Open, hosted by Wisconsin–Stevens Point.

The Knights crowned four individual champions and collected several podium finishes across both the Gold and Purple divisions. Freshman Chloe Sheffield (103 lbs), Gable Hemann (117 lbs), Mackenzie Childers (131 lbs) and Aubrie Pehrson (138 lbs) each earned first-place finishes in the Purple Division to headline the day for Wartburg.

Hemann rolled through her bracket with four dominant wins, including a pair of pins and tech falls - 10-0 tech fall in the championship bout. Childers posted four straight victories, capped by a 10-0 tech fall in the title match at 131 pounds. Pehrson won all four of her matches at 138 pounds — three by fall — before sealing the title with a 7-4 decision in the finals. Sheffield opened her collegiate career with three consecutive tech falls to capture gold at 103 pounds.
