No. 24 Knights Prepare to Defend Levick Arena from Pointers

The No.24-ranked Wartburg women's wrestling team will host UW-Steven's Point in Levick Arena on Friday, Nov. 21, beginning at 6 p.m.
 
LAST TIME OUT
The Knights' last time out they participated in the Luther Open in Decorah, Iowa, to great success. Wartburg had six first-place finishes, and a total of 16 place winners.
Chloe Sheffield (103 lbs), Afftynn Stusse (110 lbs), Gable Hemann (117 lbs), Kylie Rule (138 lbs), Aniyah Kelly (145) and Rewa Chababo (207 lbs) led the way for the Knights with the first-place finishes.

Ava Gardner (110 lbs, Second Place), Jasmine Luedtke (117 lbs, Second Place), Ayane Jasinski (124 lbs, Second Place) and Cailyn Whittier (131 lbs, Third Place) added podium finishes.

SERIES HISTORY
The Knights are 1-1 in the series against UW-Steven's Point. The last time these two teams faced was in December of last year, when Wartburg traveled to Steven's Points and emerged with a 25-20 victory. The last time the Knights hosted the Pointers was December of 2023, when UW-Steven's Point took home a 30-13 victory.
 
SEASON LEADERS
On the season, Aubrie Pehrson leads the Knights with six falls, followed by Kaydence Boom with five and seven wrestlers with three. In total, the Knights have recorded 63 falls.

Cailyn Whittier has recorded a team high 11 tech falls, followed by Ava Gardner with eight and Chloe Sheffield with seven. The Knights have recorded 90 tech falls on the season.

Mackenzie Childers and Sheffield lead the Knights in win percentage, as neither wrestler has lost a match, going 6-0 and 8-0, respectively. In terms of total wins, Gardner has a total of 14 wins, followed by Whittier with 13. Wartburg has gone 238-121 in their bouts this season.
 
DUAL RECORD
Wartburg has participated in one dual this season, defeating the No. 11-ranked (formerly No. 18-ranked) Simpson Storm, 29-17 on Nov. 5.

KYNER ENTERS THIRD SEASON AT THE HELM
Head coach Brady Kyner enters his third season leading the Wartburg women's wrestling program.

A 2022 Wartburg graduate and two-time All-American during his collegiate career, Kyner has compiled an 11-6 dual record and coached 10 All-Conference selections and two All-Americans.
 
WEEKLY A-R-C HONORS NATIONALLY RANKED
Wartburg began the 2025 season ranked No. 10 in the NWCA Women's Wrestling Preseason Coaches' Poll, earning 15 first-place votes—the program's highest preseason ranking to date. The Knights' previous best was No. 18, and their highest ranking overall came at No. 10 on Jan. 16, 2024.

The Knights currently sit at No. 24 in the NWCA rankings.

TWO KNIGHTS EARN INDIVIDUAL NATIONAL RANKINGS
Two Wartburg wrestlers appear in the NWCA individual preseason rankings:
  • #10 Kylie Rule – 138 lbs
  • #7 Rew Chababo – 207 lbs

PICKED TO REPEAT AS CONFERENCE CHAMPS
Wartburg was selected to win the 2025 A-R-C Women's Wrestling Championship, earning five first-place votes and 35 total points in the conference's preseason coaches' poll.

LAST SEASON...
The Knights finished with a 7-3 overall record, capturing the inaugural American Rivers Conference (A-R-C) Championship and the Division III Invite title in East Moline, Ill. Wartburg also placed runner-up at the NCWWC Regionals in Indianola before a 22nd team-finish at nationals.

The program set a school record with 14 NWCA Scholar All-Americans, while 10 wrestlers earned All-Conference recognition. Returning standout Jasmine Luedtke was named A-R-C Rookie of the Year.
