Seven Knights capture titles; Wartburg goes back-to-back at A-R-C Championships

PELLA, Iowa -- Seven Wartburg College women's wrestlers captured individual titles to lead the Knights to their second consecutive American Rivers Conference championship Saturday at Central College. 

Chloe Sheffield (103), Ava Gardner (110), Sophie Bowers (124), Kenzie Childers (131), Kylie Rule (138), Aniyah Kelly (145), and Rewa Chababo (207) each captured individual titles for Wartburg, with Chababo successfully defending her championship. 

The Knights totaled a program-record 173.5 team points, surpassing last season's mark of 151.5. Under the direction of head coach Brady Kyner, Wartburg has now claimed the conference's first two championship events since the league's inaugural season in 2025.  

103 pounds 
Chloe Sheffield claimed the 103-pound conference title, earning 16 team points. Sheffield opened the tournament with a fall over Simpson's Emaline Hicks (4:25), followed by another pin against Dubuque's Grace Murphy (1:47). She secured first place via forfeit in the final round. 

110 pounds 
Wartburg placed two wrestlers on the podium at 110 pounds. Ava Gardner went 5-0 on the day, capturing the championship and scored 17.5 points, recording a tech fall, a pin, and two decisions en route to the title before winning the final by forfeit. Afftynn Stusse finished runner-up with 15 points, rebounding from an opening-round loss to post two technical falls and a first-period pin in round four. 

117 pounds 
Gable Hemann placed third at 117 pounds, contributing 15 points. Hemann opened with back-to-back falls before falling in the semifinals, then closed the tournament with a pin over teammate Jasmine Luedtke in the consolation bracket. Luedtke earned a fourth-place finish and 10.5 points, highlighted by a tech fall and a fall.
  
124 pounds 
Sophie Bowers led the 124-pound bracket, winning the conference title and scoring 19 team points. Bowers recorded two tech falls, a pin and a decision victory during her championship run. Leah Chandler placed third with 14 points, collecting two tech falls and a pin in the consolation rounds. 

131 pounds 
Kenzie Childers dominated the 131-pound bracket, earning first place and 21 team points. After receiving a bye, Childers posted consecutive technical falls in the semifinal and championship bouts, both by a 10-0 margin.  

138 pounds 
Wartburg went one-two at 138 pounds. Kylie Rule captured the conference crown and totaled 24.5 points, securing a fall and a tech fall before winning the title by forfeit to teammate Rachel Fode, who finished runner-up with 16.5 points after advancing to the final with a tech fall and a decision. 

145 pounds 
Aniyah Kelly earned the 145-pound championship, scoring 20 points for the Knights. Kelly opened with a first-period fall and followed with two decision victories, including a 5–0 win in the title bout. Alex Harswick finished second and added 14 points with two decision wins. 

160 pounds 
May Prado placed third, contributing 16 team points. Prado pinned Grace Rinehardt (Luther) in under a minute (Fall 0:55), before a semifinal setback. Prado went on a recorded a 11-0 tech fall in the consolation semi's, before downing Simpson's Arsyn Sadlier in the third-place match (Dec 2-2).  

180 pounds 
Erika Peterson came in fifth with a fall in 3:48 in the first consolation round. Peterson tallied 11 team points in the fifth-place match with a tech fall over Laura Totty (Central), 10-0.  

207 pounds 
Rewa Chababo defended her title from last season, winning by tech fall over Ella Brown of Buena Vista (TF 10-0), before capturing the championship with a first-period pin (Fall 0:44) over Lucy Read of Loras.
