ROCK ISLAND, Ill. -- The No. 5-ranked Wartburg College women's wrestling team (10-2 overall) turned in a strong showing at the two-day Division III National Invitational inside the Roy J. Carver Center, finishing as the team runner-up with a program-record 185.0 points.
 
Wartburg led the team standings following day one before finishing just 3.5 points behind third-ranked North Central (188.5). The Knights previously claimed the team title at the event a season ago.
 
Wartburg crowned two individual champions during the weekend, led by Afftynn Stusse at 110 pounds and Rewa Chababo at 207 pounds. Chababo secured her second consecutive championship at the weight.
 
Stusse paced the Knights with 26.5 team points, ranking seventh among all competitors at the event. Sophie Bowers (4:59) and Ava Gardner (5:12) were among the tournament leaders in total match time while combining for six technical falls, finishing third and fourth overall in that category.
 
As a team, the Knights compiled a 54-21 record across the two-day event, producing the second-best win percentage (.720) in the field. Wartburg ranked fourth in total match points (457) and totaled 33 bonus-point victories, including 20 technical falls and 13 pins.
 
At 103 pounds, Chloe Sheffield advanced to the championship bout and finished as the runner-up, contributing 19 team points. Sheffield opened with a bye before recording three straight wins, highlighted by technical falls over Leslie Guzman (Illinois Wesleyan) and Jackelyn Sanchez (Schreiner), along with a 7-0 decision against Augustana's Mia Vazquez. She fell in the finals to North Central's Madison Avila.
 
The Knights controlled the 110-pound bracket as teammates Stusse and Ava Gardner met in the championship match. Stusse recorded a fall and two technical falls en route to the finals before securing the title with a 14-4 technical fall over Gardner. Gardner advanced with three technical falls of her own, as the pair combined for 46.5 team points.
 
At 117 pounds, Gable Hemann placed fourth after reaching the semifinals with three consecutive victories, including a fall over Simpson's Layla Phillips. Jasmine Luedtke added a sixth-place finish after posting multiple wins in both championship and consolation action.
 
Sophie Bowers secured a third-place finish at 124 pounds, rebounding from a semifinal setback with a technical fall in the consolation semifinals and a 3-1 decision in the third-place bout. Leah Chandler also competed at 124, opening the tournament with a pin in 55 seconds before earning a 14-7 decision.
 
At 131 pounds, Mackenzie Childers finished third, collecting five wins on the weekend, including three falls and a technical fall in the consolation semifinal.
 
Kylie Rule reached the finals at 138 pounds and placed second after opening the tournament with three first-period falls. Rule was defeated in the championship bout by Augustana's Aine Moffitt.
 
At 145 pounds, Aniyah Kelly earned runner-up honors after a dominant run to the finals that included two falls and a technical fall before falling to Simpson's Annelise Obermark in the title match.
 
May Prado rounded out Wartburg's placers at 160 pounds with a fifth-place finish. Prado opened the tournament with two 10-0 technical falls, added a quarterfinal pin in 2:36, and closed the weekend with a 9-3 decision victory.
 
The tournament concluded with Rewa Chababo capturing the 207-pound championship for the second consecutive season. Chababo opened her bracket with a quarterfinal fall and sealed the title with back-to-back decisions, including a 10-9 victory over North Central's Dasia Yearby in the finals.
