INDIANOLA, Iowa—The No. 16 Wartburg women's wrestling team placed sixth in the nine-team field at the NCWWC Region V Championships Friday with 61 points.
Two punched their tickets to the NCWWC National Championships in
Kylie Rule (130) and
Kami Senlycki (170).
"I thought today was a great day," said head coach
Brady Kyner. "We had two athletes qualify for the National Championships in the toughest regional in the country. Kylie and Kami made history by being our first national qualifiers for Wartburg Women's Wrestling.
Wartburg had the only NCAA Division III finalist in the regional championship and we had the most athletes qualify for nationals in our conference," he continued. "We also had five other regional placewinners that are young and talent. I'm excited for the opportunities that will come in the future for those athletes."

"Having two national qualifiers means a lot for our program," said Kyner. "We cast a vision of hitting the ground running and were able to compete with the best teams in the country in our first season, which is awesome. Our program is full of athletes that want to find out hos good they can be on the wrestling mat, but also in life."

- Kelly earned her team-best 13th fall in this tournament
- Rule earned her team-best 28th win of the season in today's tournament
- Senlycki earned her 26th win of the season in today's tournament
- Kelly surpassed the 20-win mark on the year
- Ortiz and Wainwright surpassed the 15-win mark on the year today

The duo will compete at the NCWWC National Championships Friday, March 8-Saturday, March 9. This event will take place in Cedar Rapids.
