Track & Field Prepared for NCAA Final Qualifier

A select group of Wartburg competitors will compete at the NCAA Qualifier in Waverly this weekend. The meet begins at 1 p.m. on Friday and resumes at 9 a.m. on Saturday.
 
NATIONAL RANKINGS
The United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) released its week six national polls on Tuesday, Mar. 3 with the men's team improving to No. 5 and the women's team placed at No. 20.

The men's team has 92.35 total points and the women's team has 39.60 total points.
 
LAST TIME OUT
The Knights competed last weekend at the Indoor American Rivers Conference Championship in Decorah. The men's track & field team won their 15th Indoor American Rivers Conference Championship (dating back to 1998) with 199 points and the women's track and field team have won their 18th Indoor American Rivers Conference Championship (dating back to 1998) with 216 points. JoJo Tyynismaa won the most valuable track performer for the third consecutive season. Wartburg (HC: Marcus Newsom) won the coaching staff of the year on both the men's and women's side. AJ Wright broke his own program record in the prelims of the 60m dash with a time of 6.78. Isaiah Hammerand broke the program record in the 3000m with a time of 8:10.18 and Hutton Edney broke his own program record in the 800m with a time of 1:51.20.
 
Wartburg College senior JoJo Tyynismaa was named the American Rivers Conference Female Athlete of the Week, the league announced Monday. Tyynismaa was a key performer for the Knights in pursuit of the program's 18th Indoor American Rivers Conference Championship (dating back to 1998). Tynnismaa won three individual conference championships and was apart of the 4x400m relay team that was conference champions. Tyynismaa has earned seven career individual indoor conference honors in her career.
