Bleckwehl, the captain of the 1976 men’s cross country and 1977 men’s track teams, is a four-time letterman in both sports. He was named the Iowa Conference’s MVP for cross country and track the same seasons and was the Most Valuable Athlete for Wartburg men’s track in 1974. A winner of the Hertel Award for the school’s outstanding two-sport athlete in 1977, Bleckwehl earned all-Iowa Conference honors in cross country and track in each of his four years. The school record holder in the 1,000-yard run and 1977 conference champion in the 800, Wartburg’s former director of admissions is an account manager at CISCO in Bloomington, Minnesota.
