A three-year starter in men's basketball and baseball, Ludvigsen was team captain and earned the Best Defensive Player award in men's basketball during the 1966-67 season. He played on three winning baseball squads for long-time coach Earnie Opperman and ended his career with a .251 batting average. A former Hertel two-sport athlete award winner, Ludvigsen is a retired human resources manager currently residing in Arden.
