Joel was a four-year member of the football and track teams. He was an All-American in the shot put at the 1999 NCAA Division III indoor meet and a Football Gazette third-team All-American as a lineman in 1999. Rochford received first-team Iowa Conference honors in football during his senior season. He held the indoor shot put record of 54’ 5” until this year. He lives in New Hampton, where he is an insurance agent and co-owner of Rochford Insurance.
