Hearn was an All-Iowa Conference performer in basket-ball and baseball.
In basketball, he is Wartburg’s all-time leading rebounder with 1,036 and ranks second in all-time scoring with 1,551 points. He played 93 games. He was named All-IIAC three times and All-NAIA District 15 twice while playing on championship teams in 1967 and 1968.

In baseball, Hearn was named to the 1966 All-IIAC first team. He had a career pitching record of 11-6. When not on the mound, he was a position player with a career batting average of .285, including 26 extra base hits. Hearn works in sales for Edison Liquor in Milwaukee.
