Tuecke is the fifth leading scorer, 1,403 points, and second leading rebounder, 982, in Wartburg men's basketball history. He played on two Iowa Conference championship teams, 1959 and 1960, and was named to the All-HAC first team both seasons. A four-year letterwinner, he led the Knights to the NCAA post-season tournament all four seasons.
He earned his master's degree at Kansas State and did further postgraduate study at the University of Nebraska. He taught at
Wartburg for one year, 1965, and then joined the State University of New York system as assistant director for academic services in the computer center. He retired as associate vice president of computer systems at Northern Illinois University after beginning there in 1981.
