Brianne Schoonover ‘02

Schoonover was a four-year member of the women’s basketball and women’s track and field teams. In basketball, she played on two Iowa Conference Championship teams, and was a three-time All-Conference selection, two-time Academic All-American and an All-Region selection. Schoonover finished her career as the program’s eighth-leading scorer with 1,314 points. On the track, she was named the conference’s MVP in 2002 and was a three-time IIAC Champion in the 400m and 4x400m relay. She was a two-time conference champion in the 4x100m relay and won the 200m dash her senior year. Schoonover was a seven-time Drake Relays Champion and two-time Academic All-American. She was honored as the department’s 2001 Hertel Award winner (outstanding two-sport athlete and earned the Chellevold Award (for outstanding academic and athletic success) the following year. Schoonover graduated Summa Cum Laude (with a cumulative GPA of 3.96), was an accounting and business administration double-major, qualified for the Dean’s List in all eight semesters, was named the Duane Schroeder IIAC Female Athlete of the Year her senior year and received a prestigious NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship. She resides in West Des Moines and is a senior manager for Ernst & Young LLP, where she has worked since 2002.
