Doug Beck '71
Wyoming, Minnesota
General Manager, Franklin Life Insurance

One of Wartburg's great distance runners, Beck was the Knights' first NCAA All¬ American in cross country. He also won All-American honors in track and lettered all four years in both sports. He finished first in the Iowa Conference cross country meet in 1968, 1969, and 1970 and was the league's cross country MVP in 1970 and 1971.

In track, he set school records that still stand in the 3,000-meter run, 8:41.7; 5,000-meter run, 14:49.44; and the 10,000-meter run, 30:40.44. He qualified for three NCAA national championship events and placed as high as fourth in 1970. He also was an excellent student and was named to Dean's List on several occasions. Beck is a business owner and financial advisor of Five Star Financial Resources.
