Ault was a four-year member of the men's golf team and the 2004 Iowa Conference individual medalist and subsequent conference MVP. He earned All-Conference honors all four years as the Knights won the 2004 and 2006 IIAC titles. Ault ranks second on the career scoring average leader list, and three of his seasons' scoring averages rank on the top 10 list in that category. He holds the 36-hole school record and held the 72-hole record until Tanner Randall bested that this season. Ault earned All-Region honors twice and was a PING Third-team All-American. He is the manager of the Kirkwood Bookstore and lives in Cedar Rapids with his wife, Andrea Schiltz '07, and their four children.
