Byron Tate,
a 2012 graduate, was a four-year member of the wrestling program. He was a three-time National Champion at 197 lbs., and a three-time Iowa Conference Champion. Tate was named the D3wrestle.com wrestler of the year in 2012, and was the conference MVP in 2011. He ranks second on the career wins list (141) and sixth on the career falls list (44). Wartburg won the team National Championship in 2011 and 2012. He was the runner up at the prestigious Midlands Championships in 2010, and was invited to the Division I All-Star Dual in 2011. Tate works at McComas Lacina Construction and is a wrestling coach at Iowa City West High School. He resides in Iowa City, Iowa with his wife, Whitney, and three sons, Briggs, Bishop, and Banks.
