Cartee is one of the few athletes in Iowa Conference history to earn all-league honors twice in both football and baseball (1986 and 1987). His .531 batting average in 1986 conference play remains a league record. He was a first team NCAA Division III All-American and Iowa Conference MVP that year with a .518 batting average, 24 extra base hits, and 49 RBIs. He had four seasons of .300 or better hitting, 37 career doubles, 22 career home runs, and 123 career RBIs. He concluded his baseball career as a four-time letterman, three-time Knights Most Valuable Player, and three-time all-conference honoree. On the gridiron, Cartee was all-Iowa Conference three times, earning first team honors in 1986. At tight end, he caught 52 passes for 572 yards and three touchdowns. He owns Cartee’s Sports Zone, an indoor baseball and softball training facility in the Quad Cities. He is currently the athletic director at Rock Island High School.
