Buenning is Wartburg's all-time leading scorer in men's basketball with 1,932 points (an 18.2 average). He played on four Iowa Conference championship teams and in three national NAIA tournaments. In his senior year, he was named to two All-American teams. He also pitched briefly for the baseball team. Buenning is an insurance agency manager at LPL Financial Service.
