Ott lettered 11 times. He led the Knights to two Iowa Conference championships in football, two in basketball, and one in baseball. In football, he gained 2,981 yards in total offense and scored 163 points. In basketball, he averaged 5.8 points per game for his career. In baseball, he hit .358 and had a 12-5 pitching record. He was twice named to the All-HAC team in football and was a football All-American in 1960.
